MSP International Airport
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a wheelchair curbside?
In order to accommodate many travelers with special needs, airlines ask that you please call at least 48 hours in advance to request that a skycap meet you at the curb.
Is it necessary to inform the gate agent that I need wheelchair assistance to board the aircraft?
Please inform the airline gate agent, who can help accommodate customers needing assistance.
Is it necessary to tip the cart drivers?
All airline services are free. Tip at your discretion, but it is not necessary.
Will anyone help push wheelchairs in the terminals?
Contact your airline in advance of your arrival at MSP. They will arrange for a wheelchair pusher from Globe or Primeflight Aviation Services.
What is the policy for traveling with oxygen?
It is mandatory that passengers needing oxygen contact their airline in advance to ensure oxygen will be available. Federal law does not allow passengers to bring their own oxygen onto an airplane. In most instances, airlines can provide last-minute oxygen; however, oxygen is not always available on demand. If prior arrangements are made, the airline will provide oxygen at the boarding gate. Passengers who bring a filled oxygen tank to the airport will not be permitted to carry it onto the plane. They will be asked to have a family member or friend retrieve the tank because airlines are not responsible for storing a tank at the airport. However, tanks that have been purged and are free of pressure may be checked as baggage. If a passenger has made no prior arrangements and the airline cannot provide oxygen, the airline may deny boarding privileges for security purposes. If you will be making a flight connection at MSP and will require oxygen in the airport, have your medical provider arrange for oxygen. The provider should then contact Travelers Assistance at 612-726-5500 to arrange for delivery.
Will airline personnel meet me in the parking ramp and push my wheelchair to Ticketing Level?
Please make arrangements for a family member or friend to accompany you to and from the parking lot. There is no guarantee an airline or Travelers Assistance volunteer will be available to assist you.
Where is the assistance animal/pet relief area?
The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport maintains an animal exercise area just outside door 1 on the Baggage Claim Level of the Lindbergh Terminal building.
