MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL – The Metropolitan Airports Commission board today awarded development opportunities for an airport wellness center -- which will include a hair salon and spa, health clinic and pharmacy -- to XpresSpa MSP Airport, LLC.
“The wellness center will provide important services to travelers and strengthen Minneapolis-St. Paul International's reputation as a national leader in airport amenities,” said MAC Executive Director Jeff Hamiel. “These new services will add to the overall travel experience and expand opportunities for travelers to relax and take care of themselves along the way.”
The 5,000 square foot wellness center will be located at the entrance to Concourse D in MSP's Lindbergh Terminal.
The spa will offer a wide variety of services, including: hair cuts and styling; shaving and waxing; manicures and pedicures; partial and full-body massages; paraffin treatments; facials; and a variety of other services. Spa and beauty-related retail items will be available for purchase.
“XpresSpa is proud to partner with Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. We applaud their initiative in identifying important services for travelers and dedicating the space for these services,” said XpresSpa President Marisol Binn.
An on-site health care clinic will provide routine medical services to travelers and airport employees. Services will be similar to those offered at walk-in health clinics commonly sited in pharmacies and department stores. The clinic will offer private exam rooms and comfortable waiting areas. An adjoining full-service pharmacy will fill prescriptions and sell basic medical products and supplies oriented toward travelers. XpresSpa will provide the health care services through an agreement with Airport MD.
“We are proud to partner with Airport MD, a trailblazer in providing walk-in medical and pharmacy needs for travelers,” Binn said.
XpresSpa is the largest U.S. specialty spa company operating exclusively at airports. Selected by the MAC through a competitive proposal review process, XpresSpa also operates at airports in New York, San Francisco, Cancun and Amsterdam. The company will enter into a nine-year lease with the MAC for the wellness facility.
Construction will begin this summer. The facilities will open for business this fall.
