If you’ve been in the Twin Cities recently, you know that the winter is well underway.

The bright side of the snowfall is that it sets the scene for a festive holiday season as travelers arrive at MSP Airport.

If you’re traveling this month and into early 2026, we have some tips and delights that will make your MSP visit efficient and fun.

Passenger volume is expected to increase the week of Dec. 15, as the holiday travel period approaches. The weekends of Dec. 18 and Dec. 26 are expected to see a higher number of passengers at MSP. We still advise arriving at the airport two hours ahead of domestic flights and three hours ahead of international departures. Stay in touch with your airline about your departure time.

Parking tips

Remember to prebook your parking in MSP’s ramps and, on the day of your travel, you can monitor security checkpoint wait times.

Drop-off strategies

MSP recently launched the FLEX Lane at Terminal 1 to provide drivers with an additional alternative for drop-offs and pick-ups. At Terminal 2, try the Express Lane to improve the pick-up and drop-off experience.

Try MSP Reserve

A great benefit for passengers who don’t have TSA Precheck or Global Entry is MSP Reserve. This free service allows you to reserve a spot in the TSA security lines.

Holiday performances, Santa and delicious eats!

Once you’re through security, holiday musical magic awaits in the terminals. Check the performance calendar from Airport Foundation MSP to see if your flight times coincide with a performance. Holiday-themed shopping is also on the schedule, and we have appearances by Santa and complimentary gift wrapping after your shopping at MSP is complete.

You can also enjoy the airport’s engaging art installations and visit any of our delicious restaurants or quick-bite concessions to fuel your trip. For some guidance on where to find the best snack, meal or retail shopping, visit our Eat, Shop, Relax page for options on the way to your gate.

Enjoy this holiday season and have a bright New Year!
