Public Comments Being Accepted on Unmanned Aerial Systems 

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) Police Department was recently certified by the Federal Aviation Administration to operate Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and the department is now accepting public comment on its draft policy and future purchase. 

Public comments are welcome from Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, through Monday, Sept. 18, 2023. Written comments will be accepted until 1:00 p.m. on Sept. 18. In-person comments will close at the conclusion of the MAC Commission meeting on Monday, Sept. 18.

In-person comments 

There will be opportunity at two public meetings to provide in-person comments on UAS. 

  • Tuesday Sept. 5, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. during the MAC’s Operations, Finance & Administration committee meeting 

  • Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the MAC’s full Commission meeting. 

Both meetings will be held in the Commission Chambers at MSP Airport’s Terminal 1.  

Please visit the MAC’s website for instructions on how to attend a meeting at the airport. You will need to pick up a security pass to go through security screening at Terminal 1. 

Discussion and public comments about the draft policy will be part of the agenda at both meetings. Agendas will be available on the Board Meetings webpage on the Wednesdays prior to the meeting dates. 

The Airport Police Department’s process of providing opportunity for public comment on UAS complies with Minnesota State Statute 626.19.
