The MEA school break again drew families and leisure travelers to MSP Airport this year, as thousands of fliers took to the skies.
In the 7-day stretch from Monday, Oct. 13 to Sunday, Oct. 19, 309,201 people were screened at MSP Airport’s TSA security checkpoints.
The busiest day was Thursday, Oct. 16, when 52,645 people came through the security checkpoints, making it the second-busiest day for screenings at MSP since 2019.
Passengers at MSP enjoyed “Surprise and Delight” activities on Wednesday and Thursday of MEA week. Visitors could pose with Paul Bunyan for a photo, sit down for some face painting or enjoy some music from airport performers while visiting some of the MSP’s animal ambassadors. The airport also offers family services that provide convenience for travelers.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission, which operates MSP Airport, was grateful to the federal partners who worked to maintain passenger security and air traffic control at the airport during the busy MEA travel period.
