A number of improvements to MSP’s driving and parking experience will begin this spring, visible to drivers when they enter Terminal 1’s inbound roadway and head into the parking ramps.

Starting this month, drivers will notice work beginning to replace the landscaping in the areas along the inbound roadway at Terminal 1. Updated digital signage will also be installed in that area. The roadway will always remain open and landscaping work will wrap up in the fall of 2027.

Once inside the parking ramps, you might see overhead work for a parking guidance system – red and green lights atop the driving lanes to indicate available spots – is going up on levels 2 and 3 in the red and blue ramps.

Also in the ramps, the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), which operates MSP, is installing new electric vehicle chargers in the ramps at Terminal 1 and 2.  MSP is expanding its network to serve more passengers with EVs.

And there’s more. This spring, work is starting to convert levels two and three of the red and blue ramps to public parking spaces. Those levels were previously utilized by rental car companies, which have relocated to the Silver Ramp. Once complete, the renovated area will provide an additional 1,703 parking spaces. The work is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
