Alaska Airlines Launching Service Between MSP International and Portland International

Jul 30, 2015

Metropolitan Airports Commission Executive Director/CEO Jeff Hamiel today highlighted the importance of Alaska Airlines’ announcement that it will launch service between Minneapolis-St. Paul International (MSP) and Portland International airports on Feb. 18, 2016.

“Alaska Airlines’ announcement means that, for the first time, there will be competition on nonstop service between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Portland, Oregon.” Hamiel said. “When airlines compete for customers the result is increased choice and often lower fares for travelers.”

In a news release today, Alaska Airlines announced plans to fly a once daily, nonstop flight from MSP to Portland International. The flights will be operated using the 76-seat Embraer 175. Alaska Airlines flies from Terminal 1-Lindbergh’s Concourse E.
Currently, only Delta Air Lines flies nonstop between MSP and PDX.

To celebrate, Alaska Airlines is offering introductory one-way fares of $139. Customers must purchase their tickets by Aug. 5 and travel by March 16, 2016. Visit www.alaskaair.com, or call 1-800-ALASKAAIR (800-252-7522 or Hearing & Speech Impaired (TTY): Dial 711 for Relay Services).
