An additional traffic lane in front of Terminal 2, installation of a new parking guidance system of overhead red and green lights in the ramps and continued work on Terminal 1’s iconic folded plate roof are part of the Metropolitan Airports Commission’s (MAC) capital improvement program (CIP) for 2026 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Other projects certain to catch visitors’ attention include ongoing work on the Concourse G expansion and additional gates and concessions space coming to Terminal 2. The $501 million plan for 2026 will bring new amenities to MSP Airport’s passenger facilities and include a variety of upgrades to make airport operations more efficient.
The MAC’s board of commissioners approved the CIP budget at its Dec. 15 meeting, including a long list of budgeted projects that extends through 2028. Funding for 2026-28 totals $1.9 billion.

Earlier this year, on Oct. 27, the MAC held an open house for general contractors and small businesses to provide details about the MAC’s 2026 construction plans. The event drew a crowd of about 140, with contractors receiving information on how to bid on MAC projects and learning of opportunities for small businesses to participate in the work.
