Thanksgiving travel starts to pick up the weekend of Nov. 21 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and carries into next week.
The busiest day by passenger volume through TSA security checkpoints is expected to be Sunday Dec. 1, at the end of the holiday weekend. Wednesday, Nov. 26, is also expected to experience higher-than-usual flows of travelers, as passengers seeking a taste of turkey take to the skies.
To expedite your travel through MSP, you can prebook your parking in MSP’s ramps and monitor security checkpoint wait times.
- MSP recently launched the FLEX Lane at Terminal 1 to provide drivers with an additional alternative for drop-offs and pick-ups. At Terminal 2, try the Express Lane to improve the pick-up and drop-off experience. Follow the signs as you approach the terminals. Remember the cell phone waiting lot on Post Road, where you can stage before swooping in for your well-timed pick-up.
- MSP is seeing the airlines’ flight schedules recover from the effects of the government shutdown. The airport is grateful for the federal workforce serving the airport and continuing to provide services to passengers. As always, stay in touch with your airline on your flight's status in the days prior to your departure.

- Coffee with a Cop: Join officers from the MSP Airport Police Department on Wednesday, Nov. 26, the day before Thanksgiving, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the MSP Airport Mall at Terminal 1 for the latest session of Coffee with a Cop. The informal event helps build relationships one cup at a time.
- The Airport Foundation MSP provides an abundance of programming to entertain and inspire all travelers. Visit this list of performances to see if your flight schedule allows you to take in some artistry.
